Little Light International partners with schools in Los Angeles. We aim to provide funding through our donors for local classrooms in low-income and poverty-stricken areas who are in need of resources for education - books, technology, materials, and programs.
A Teacher’s Salary
The annual average salary and benefits for one teacher at REACH Shirati’s school is $4,000.00. Funds for teacher salaries are at a fair market wage and would provide financial security, quality education, and health insurance and benefits.
Computer Learning Program
A computer lab of 24 laptops that cost approximately $200 each. Additional funds for another server for laptops, the construction of a secure storage cabinet, for a total cost of $10,000.00. Computer literacy and skills increases opportunity for employment and further education.
Student Scholarships
For $200 a year or $17/month, cover all expenses for a child to attend school including tuition, school uniforms, supplies, shoes, and health care at the Shirati Hospital for the entire year.
Nutritious School Lunches
Studies show that nutrition directly affects learning ability in school aged children. A current budget of $300 a month to provide each child with cassava porridge (ugi), which is the source of calories but provides no nutritional value. With $3,600 annually (double the budget), a more nutritious meal could be provided for students (cassava, rice, beans, hard boiled egg).
